Walking Home in the Rain

Leather shoes,
New briefcase,
Grayish hues,
Hurried pace.

Cars go by,
Clothing soaked.
Crying sky,
Anger stoked.

Beading rain
Seeping through.
Drops that stain--
Feeling blue.

All is wet.
Temper's cooled.
Justly met,
I've been fooled.

This is not
Time of strife.
Grey has brought
Light to life.

Looking up.
Seeing 'round.
Lifting up
What's been down.

Cloth will dry,
Leather too,
Puddles die,
But for you.

Once a while
Drops do come.
In their style
Soon become

Renewed heart,
Lilt in speech,
Lasting part,
Deeper reach.
