Nighttime

A speck of darkness fell to my heart
From the place in between the stars,
In the lightless heavens where it got its start.
It clouds and covers o'er old scars.
Black chokes out the brilliant bright
Prisoning noise, too, inside silent bars.
Contrast and colors lose their fight
They fade into grey and then nothing.
Furthering and deepening depth of sight.
Slowly, perception reaches not one thing,
But comfort there is instead of fear.
It comes on silent darkness wing.
There's a unknown warmth in here,
In cool silence and dark of night.
Memories and worries that appear
Dissipate into that sad lonely night
Lack of perception brings sleep
And then another tomorrow's light.
